Revised recommendation on BWT filter handling

Filter flushing

As a matter of best practice, we recommend filter exchange after 4 weeks of operational break, for safety reasons. This does not take into consideration local water conditions and local safety measures. Unless previous examples of extended shutdown have created specific problems on site, such as blockages due to high content of particles, bad smell or odour from local tap water, then 'dormant' filters can be taken in operation again after 4 weeks or longer by flushing with volume of water as given in table below (B).

We recommend to first flush the connected device (e.g. coffee machine) and also the supply pipework for minimum 10 minutes, separately from installed filter, and before flushing the filter with extended volume (B). Exchange of filter is mandatory after specific filter capacity is reached, or minimally 12 months after first installation. Standard cleaning procedures for water-dependant functions of the connected device (e.g. coffee machine) as defined by the manufacturer should be strictly adhered to.
